Rotiku

There is a nice alternative for having breakfast out of your home or hotel in Bandung, it's called Rotiku (or in English, My Bread). Actually the residents of Bandung normally just get breakfast on the road at the sidewalk food stalker like Rice Porridge, Fried Rice, Green bean porridge, or even instant noodle. But in Rotiku, you get a more decent breakfast like bread, sausage, and also they serve rice porridge as well.

What famous from Rotiku is their steamed bread menu. They have like steamed sandwich, or steamed bread with chocolate, or other kinds of jam inside. If you don't like them steamed, they also have roti bakar or toast.

Unlike other similar restaurant, Rotiku seems to intend the breakfast market. They open since 7.00 AM, but if you got there earlier at say 6.30 AM, they normally already have something ready. Rotiku also have various Indonesian menu for lunch and dinner as well. Of course they are so tasty as well.

Burgerocks

Spend some days in Bandung then you realize, there are lots of American food restaurant here in the city. But if you think of eating some burgers, Bandung not only offer you with Big Mac, Kentucky, and Karl's Burger, why don't you try the most famous local brand for a burger: Burgerocks.

This place is not that fancy, but so many Bandung youth come here as they are attracted not only by the thick burger bun and patty, but also by the other visitors. You know how youth are.

This local global delicacy cannot be beaten by McDonald. Try it.

If you'd like to taste local delicacies, this probably is the best place to go. The atmosphere here is like an old school style stalls. The opening hours is for lunch and dinner, except on Sunday it opens at 6 am with a breakfast menu as Doclang, Kupat know, porridge Hayam village, sangu fried cheese, fried sangu golodog jeans, etc. You wouldn't know what they are until you taste it for yourself. It's rather hard for me to explain here. Please understand. For those authentic food you only need to pay the affordable cost. Starting from Rp. 500 for chili oncom up to Rp. 7,000 for squid oil.

Besides their authentic Sundanese food, Bancakan also succeed to set up the interior as authentic as possible. It really represents the atmosphere you get in Sundanese 'kampung' (village). Even they serve us with tin plates and cups. The stove is also still using old traditional Sundanese style 'hawu', fueled with firewoods.
