Serabi Enhaii

Traditionally, serabi (or surabi in Sundanese language) is like a small pancake made of rice flour and coconut milk. The pancake then, again traditionally, poured with liquid palm sugar, or it also can be consumed with oncom (fermented soyabean) for a salty taste. Enhaii, is actually a nickname of NHI (National Hotel Institute), a government owned tourism school, which is now renamed as STP Bandung (Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Bandung).

Serabi Enhaii was famous as this serabi foodstall is located in front of this tourism academy. It is also famous because unlike the traditional serabi, Serabi Enhaii started to put various topping instead of only liquid palm sugar or oncom only.

People started to like their Surabi with cheese, chocolate, strawberry sauce, and other contemporary ingredients. Besides, the Bandung youth likes to hang around here as they also interested to see the students of NHI, who are famously pretty. Now, serabi enhaii is no longer as famous. But, there is also another Surabi Enhaii opened in other town. For example there is one in Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta. Also, you can find Soerabi Enhaii now in Palembang. Serabi Enhaii Jl. Bancakan Traditional Food

WARUNG NASI BANCAKAN

Jl. Trunojoyo no. 62
Bandung

If you'd like to taste local delicacies, this probably is the best place to go. The atmosphere here is like an old school style stalls. The opening hours is for lunch and dinner, except on Sunday it opens at 6 am with a breakfast menu as Doclang, Kupat know, porridge Hayam village, sangu fried cheese, fried sangu golodog jeans, etc. You wouldn't know what they are until you taste it for yourself. It's rather hard for me to explain here. Please understand. For those authentic food you only need to pay the affordable cost. Starting from Rp. 500 for chili oncom up to Rp. 7,000 for squid oil.

Besides their authentic Sundanese food, Bancakan also succeed to set up the interior as authentic as possible. It really represents the atmosphere you get in Sundanese 'kampung' (village). Even they serve us with tin plates and cups. The stove is also still using old traditional Sundanese style 'hawu', fueled with firewoods.
